I have two questions:

1. What is/are the lightest center-fire bolt action/s currently in production / ever produced? (I'm looking for a small-caliber center-fire action that weighs in like a rimfire action.)

2. What is this casing? I keep finding them at the range where I shoot, and can't figure out what they are. The bullet diameter was either .25 or .22 (or something close). OAL is 1.41. It is rimless, with a .305 rim. The other shell in the photo is a 9x19 for comparison.

I'm spellbound by the potential of this hull in an ultra-light bolt action.

Thanks!

The problem with finding a bolt action like you describe is that bolt actions tend to come in certain sizes, regardless of caliber.

The Mini-Mauser comes to mind, but it's not THAT light. A .223 CZ Mini Mauser isn't that much heavier than a 45X rimfire, though.

I want to agree with Juice Boxes. Can you post the headstamp of the cartridge?

The NULA rifles and the Kimber 84 M both weigh slightly more than 5 lbs. The NULA's are true customs and will run you around $2500. The Kimber is around $1100. I'm not as familar with the NULA , but Kimber does offer theirs in 223 and all of them are stainless.

My Kimber in 308 weighs a hair under 6 lbs scoped and has not shot a group larger than 1" since finding the load it likes. 1/2" groups are quite common.

The only headstamp on the brass is "FNB" opposed to an "07".

I looked up the 5.7 x 28 someone listed. I believe that's what the shells are. I read up a little, and the 5.7 was designed as a pistol cartridge. Has anyone ever chambered a rifle or carbine for it?

the titanium model 700 remingtons were probably the lightest production gun made. I think they were right at 5lbs out of the box with a 22 inch barrel

5.7 x 28...Has anyone ever chambered a rifle or carbine for it?

Its basically a 22 Hornet. And yes, many 22 Hornets are out there. A good round for killing feral cats & and dogs out to 200 yards. CZ, Browning, & Ruger all chamber it.

CZ 527 in 22 hornet is just over 6lbs. Pretty light yet built very well with a great trigger. Savage has the model 40 in 22 hornet that weighs a little under 8lbs.

Seems like a few years ago, someone on a gun board made a ridiculously light (like under 3 lbs) .38 special turnbolt fed from a tube mag, IIRC - it was cool, but I cannot remember what they used to make it.

Congrats on the 527, AM - looks good to me!

yeah, someone has done a 5.7 rifle, can't remember who though. Also as mentioned above, the Ultralight rifles have to be picked up, to be believed.
Lastly, do a T/c in 5mmcraig, and you will really get to near featherweight.

you know, a 30 carbine can't be all that heavy, and then you have taurus revolvers in Raging Hornet-22 hornet, with long bbls.
and they also did a 30 carbine in something like a 4.7 Johnson caliber, or something like that...

There is a guy on the predatormasters website that has an AR in .223 that weights 4.3lbs.

I don't know about the cart whether you want it loud or not, but I used to have a kel tec plr in w223, and it was proly the lightest centerfire I ever shot.
But you wanna talk about loud? It has a 10 inch bbl , iirw...
