Mind-blowing revelation, a mistake, or just personal preference?
I had thought that I had developed a reasonably effective grip technique, but upon reflection, and having watched a few Todd Jarrett and Bruce Gray clips online, I am wondering something. When using a modern two-handed grip on an autoloader, should the thumb of one's support hand (for the right-handed, one's left thumb) actually be touching the frame of the pistol, or just be pointed at the target? I've been doing it the latter way, but now I wonder if maybe my technique needs a revision?
On the one hand (so to speak), not making contact with frame with the support-hand thumb, as I have been doing, feels more comfortable, and reduces the chances of that thumb pushing the pistol off target. On the other hand, using that thumb to contact the pistol frame could mean more overall contact between the hands and the gun, and thus perhaps more control.
Have I overlooked something incredibly obvious, or am I off track here, and best advised to do it the way I have been for a while? Thanks for any insights!
