I wouldn't be turning a blind eye to this and excusing it so quickly. The UN has an agenda and it's not a Pro Gun organization. The words used here are very subjective and joking about it's intentions is childish.

MOLON LABE
No. This will not have any effect on your life. Ever.

I would be careful using the words ever.

It's spirit looks good intentioned but I believe it can be misinterpreted, and I don't even like it if it's used in it's spirit since civilian armies can also be good guys that should be armed.

• Article 2 of the treaty defines the scope of the treaty’s prohibitions. The right to own, buy, sell, trade, or transfer all means of armed resistance, including handguns, is denied to civilians by this section of the Arms Trade Treaty.

Just let them try taking firearms from the American Public...I don't think it would go too well.

Considering activities like UNESCO's land grabs of American "dirt", I'd say firearms are fair game. Remember, it won't be them implementing their agenda, it'll be fellow Americans on their behalf.

It's easy to get drawn into a whole oneworld-Bilderberg world of paranoia, fear and loathing but it's even easier to fall into a too-late-now complacency as we have in the past.

Investing in precious metals like lead is a good idea...

Will the US be in a position to refute the UN and its backers in 20, 50, 100 years? That's why this actually does matter a little bit. If the UN gets accustomed to playing in US domestic affairs there will be no end. And we won't be the ones calling the shots in the future (our government already heeds China more than their constituents)

What to do about it? Tell your senator to say "nuts," duh.

This is absolutely hilarious to me. At least the fact that some people seem to think that the UN!!! OMG!!! is some sort of omnipotent powerful organization that can control ANYTHING in the US. The UN is a flippin OFFICE BUILDING in NY. They cant even enforce resolutions against two bit tiny countries doing horrible things to their own people or neighbors without a HUGE discussion of it for weeks or months, or years, then trying to talk some member nations to DO something!!! about it. Even then, its pretty weak tea for the most part, and seems to look like the Keystone Cops than anything that's particularly effective at getting peoples attention. Look at how many UN resolutions have gone utterly ignored because nobody was interested in dealing with it. The ONLY way anything happens with UN resolutions is when powerful nations choose to follow up on them, and we're still talking against tiny countries. Trying to disarm the civilian population in the US would be an absolute disaster, in PR and in practice.

Hey Detroit better WATCH it, the UN is after you!

HILARIOUS!

Who will enforce this imaginary nonsense?

^^ This.

Nobody cares what UN says.

^^ And this.

There seems to be an issue with exactly what this says. If one hasnt read it for themselves, they probably shouldn't express too strong of an opinion about what it says. The comments about who has read it seem to indicate it doesn't say what some think it does.

Good grief. :barf:

Small arms from countries that have ratified the treaty include Germany, Italy, Romania and the United Kingdom and as such will be compelled by international treaty to stop importation of their wares to the United States. Other countries that have signed up and are awaiting ratification include Austria, Belgium, and the Czech Republic; so get ready to say goodbye to your Glocks, Brownings and Czech made AK’s

Lets add SIG, HK, FN, and Beretta. So what?

Those plants in America won't necessarily shut down, and if they do, they forfeit our dollars. That would push a lot of them over the economic cliff with no US sales at all, and voila, they would have no armaments industry of their own.

That would mean Colt, LWRC, and Remington (just to mention known contract milspec builders) would be selling them M4's in competition against who?

Bring it on, dummies.

What a sneaky way for the Chinese to prop up our economy and get a return on subsidizing our government. Never saw it coming.

It's more incrementalism from the same bunch who has been trying to disarm us for years. Anyone remember how they banned 99% of guns in the UK? Very slowly.

They aren't doing this just for the hell of it. They have a plan. And, they are slowly implementing it while we make stupid jokes about not being able to own an attack helicopter.

Again, the question is

Who will enforce this imaginary nonsense?

and

Nobody cares what UN says.

Our own government is who will enforce it.

The US is already doing the majority of funding and legwork for the UN.

We need the UN out of the US.

I find that unlikely. The US hasn't even paid its dues to the UN in ages, at least not the entire amount, and refuses to do so.

The UN is a paper tiger. I have a really hard time taking any of the talk about the UN's supposed power at all seriously.

I'm more concerned about the Canadian conspiracy to take over out nice warm country. I've heard they've been sending sleeper cells to infiltrate, the code name they use for them is "Snowbirds".

My Wife emigrated to the U.S. When she was 12. She still communicates with her handlers (Mama and Papa) on a regular basis. I had better call the NSA and tell them. Ah hell, they already know.
