I routinely CCW my S&W M6906 9mm virtually everywhere, except at work, where company policy prohibits CCW'ing. Company attire is slacks and a polo shirt, so I typically just carry a (undetectable) little .25 auto in my pocket at work. With everything going on these days however, I am increasingly uncomfortable with just this little .25ACP mouse gun, and would really like to find some undetectable way to carry my mid-size 9mm. I'm thinking about trying one of these under shirt concealment carriers, like the picture below. In fact, I like this exact under shirt, and like the position of the gun too (except not for a lefty; I am right handed) and think it might be a good method of carry under my polo shirt.

Does anyone know who makes this particular shirt, as depicted here? (I got the image from a web search, and it didn't identify the actual manufacturer.) Also, I'd appreciate hearing the pros and cons of this type of carry method - or even this particular under shirt/carrier, if anyone is familiar with it.

I found those to be uncomfortable and the pistol hard to get to. I just wear my polo shirt/t-shirt outside my pants in any casual setting, and a light blazer or safari type jacket if I want it tucked in. I carry a BHP IWB at 4 o'clock and have never had a problem. I don't like mouse guns or pocket carry.

I have a Kramer. It's okay for a sub compact, but there's not enough support for a full size pistol. I wouldn't try a polo shirt, unless it was very loose fitting . I irregularly wear it with a bloused dress or kaboy shirt. Speed and draw don't belong in the same sentence with this rig.:(

Other than at work, I carry my 9mm the same way. But at work, I have to tuck in my polo shirt, which is (luckily) slightly loose fitting. I understand that this type of carry is a deep concealment rig, and I am giving up the ability for a quick draw. But that's OK, I will not likely need a quick draw at work, but I do need the deep concealment. Does anyone recognize the manufacturer of the shirt/carrier depicted in the picture in my original post?

OP, that particular carry shirt is made by Undertech and is commonly sold on the Glockstore. I would recommend against buying that particular shirt, as I have one that I have used to carry on certain occasions such as at weddings or business functions with a button up shirt. The shirt has identical holsters underneath the arms on both the right and left sides. Useful for firearm under one and magazine/small cell phone/knife etc under the other.

What I don't like about the shirt is they cannot comfortably carry very large or heavy firearms. 4" semi-autos seem to be the largest I was able to carry comfortably and concealed, even then that size was big enough to bounce around while walking. And I wouldn't want to try to run like that. Maybe they have improved the design as I see some models with zippered pockets for passports etc. When I bought mine they offered a Bellyband holster with it for free, which was my primary carry method for awhile.

Before I switched fields I was wearing plenty of suits and was discovering what I didn't like about my Undertech shirt. I considered buying a 5.11 made holster shirt as a replacement. Since I don't wear suits often anymore I decided not to.

Herrwalther, thanks for that info. I would most likely be carrying either a S&W 9mm M6906 or M3913 utilizing this type of undershirt, with maybe a small possibility of a Colt Officer's Model .45ACP. How do you think these particular pistols would do with this under shirt as a carry method?

I used the Kramer on a daily basis for a little while, and it worked well. Much better than 5.11 I have.

If you go with one, Id follow their suggestion, and get it a size smaller than you normally wear. Its fits snug, with very less movement that way. Ive actually carried a Colt Commander in the one pocket, and a double reload for it, in the other. While it does get old towards the end of a long day, it still works well. Two P230's works better for comfort though.

Up until I found the Smart Carry holsters, the Confidant would have been my choice. These days, a Smart Carry has replaced it. I can actually carry a Glock 19, and quite comfortably. I usually carry my Glock 26 along with a 17 reload in mine though.

You may want to check them out as well.....

I often carry my compacts or sub compacts with a basic bellyband holster but I like to put them up a little closer to chest level like they are with this shirt. It is ok comfort wise.

One holster I have been looking at that is sort of similar to the smartcarry holster is the Urban carry holster. http://urbancarryholsters.com/

The thing I like about these is that I see less change of a N.D. since the gun is in a pouch that you pull out.

Both require 2 hands to draw though. I also am struggling with the idea of reaching into my crotch area to draw and holster.

I'm fairly certain the reason my weapons bounced around inside the Undertech shirt is because they were all relatively large (for CCW) double stack weapons. It might work better with thin single stacks like your 3913 or the Colt. My AMT backup was a small single stack 380 that fit and carried nicely in the shirt even though it was heavy for its size.

Ok, so the consensus is either the Kramer or the Undertech? But not the 5.11?

The 5.11 is polyester, and makes me sweat like a pig. Its also BRIGHT white, and you look like you just got out of boot if your collar is open. The pockets are more of that, than a holster, and the guns, even the little ones, are constantly sliding/moving around.

Look at Comp-Tac's CTAC or MTAC, v-clips, and a velcro lined leather belt (Comp-Tac, Beltman, etc.). These holsters are tuckable, and worn properly, someone would really have to be looking for them to notice the v-clips.

I'm in the same boat; wanting more gun at the office, but unable to conceal what I need. Since I'm at my desk the majority of the time, I pocket my g23 in a desantis nemesis. It is too big to leave in the pocket undetected all day, so it goes in the desk drawer when I arrive. If I'm leaving for lunch, it goes back in the pocket.

Did you ever consider going down to a 27? They really dont give up anything shooting wise, and can be basically a full size, with a simple mag change.

All under shirt carry is pretty much a no-go for a lefty (at least a man). Unless you're wearing a blouse, the shirt buttons the wrong way to slide your hand in.

I have both and would take the 5.11 shirt over the UnerTech and day. I have been wearing the 5.11 for about 6 years now and the newest generation are more comfortable then they were a few years ago. I just bought 6 of the UnderTech to try out and I could not carry my XDsub in them.
