I just picked up a 3 screw Ruger Blackhawk in .357. It came with a 9mm cylinder. The gun has a flat finish, while the cylinder is blued. Serial # is 30xxxxx. Anybody have any ideas about this - I've never seen a Ruger with this finish.

By 'flat finish' I would guess you mean it's without any finish. Sounds like someone stripped off the blueing. That might look good. Whatgya pay for it, if you don't mind me axing? I had the same convertible which I sold because it was too nice to fiddle with.

BlkHawk73 - thanks for the info on the RugerForum. I posted the same question there and hopefully I'll find out what I have.

targetshootr - no it has a finish - it's flat black like parkerising. I paid $325 for it, which is a really good price in this neck of the woods.

Run your finger over the finish on the revolver. Is it rough or smooth?

That will go a ways helping figure out what it is.

I bought a 9mm cylinder off ebay for my .357 vaquero. The previous owner of that .357 might have too. Clean the front of the cylinder. There may be the last 3 digits of the gun's serial number there on the .357 cylinder. See if it matches on the 9mm cylinder too.
