My favorite Unique loads:
357 Herrett: 10.0gr pushing a 158gr cast bullet. Cheap practice load.
357 Mag: 6.0gr behind a 148 Berrys DEWC in a 357 case. Very accurate in my M19.

Recently I purchased a pound of Unique to try. So far I have loaded 357 Mag with 158 gr lead swc with 6.2 gr of Unique. Its a snappy little load thats very accurate out of my model 66. Next I am going to try a .40 cal load with a 180 gr tc. So far I like Unique and am thinking of making it my main powder when I use my other stuff up.

.357 Mag with 5.5 grains of Unique
3 pellets of #1 buckshot in a Speer shot capsule (121 gr. less the shot capsule)
Makes a hand sized pattern out of a 4"Ruger SS @ SD distances

One of my favorites was a Speer 220 gr JSWC over 8 grains of Unique in a Remington case with Remington 2 1/2 primer. Sadly, Speer doesn't offer these bullets anymore, so I'll probably switch to a similar load with a hollow point bullet.

Another favorite has been a Speer 240 gr SP over 10 grains of Unique...sort of a mid-range load. Very pleasant to shoot out of a Marlin 1894 or a flat-top Blackhawk.

These loads were worked up with old Unique. I'll have to back off a bit when I start on the new, cleaner-burning Unique - it's a little hotter.

One other thing about Unique powder - its shelf life rivals that of the container it came in. It's very stable stuff.

10 grains Unique with a 240 grain Speer HP out of a 5.5" SBH average fps is 1120 fps. I did not quite like it, but I am sure now that I have some rounds in the gun, and I am more familiar with the grip I could shoot them better.

10.2 grains Unique with XTP 240 .430 out of the same gun. Again possibly better from a rest. We will see.

5 grains in 9mm with a 125 grain Hard Cast Conical is deadly accurate at 25 yards.

45 Colt-9.0 grains Unique behind 250 grain hard cast SWC

44 Special-7.3 grains behind 200 grain hard cast RNFP
-6.5 grains behind 232 grain hard cast SWC

(44 special is a small k-frame size 3" barrel gun hence slightly lighter loadings.)

38 special-4.5 grains behind 150 grain hard cast SWC (my target load)
-5.0 grains behind 158 grain hard cast RNFP (SD load)

it's like a pump gun - a jack-of-all-trades, master of none

...........apparently, you're not a turkey hunter.

7.5 gr of Unique under a bulk 158 JHP shoots accurately with very little recoil outta both my 686s and the carbine. After a coupla hundred rounds outta either, regardless of what powder I use, the guns need to be cleaned.....no big deal. Comes with the territory.

My 2 favorite Unique loads: .357 mag. 6.0 gr under a cast 158 gr. SWC
.44 mag. 8.0 gr. under a cast 240 gr. SWC
