Here's the link...

And here's a quote (emphasis added):
Look, we have a problem. Let's figure out the best way to address the problem. And to me the problem is.... making sure an individual who shouldn't have a weapon of any type – because they have a propensity to commit a violent act – doesn't get their hands on that weapon.

Can somebody please tell this gentleman that baseball bats, hammers, knives, and illegally obtained guns are all weapons that these types of individuals will still have access to if a UBC system is instituted. Please.

Because basically anything can be used as a weapon, it is impossible to keep weapons away from violent people. But, without going to the extreme of physically removing their hands, we already have an effective method of keeping weapons out of their hands (and, it is the only method that will actually work). We can keep the people away from the weapons... We can keep them in jail.

I would ask why the government keeps turning loose violent felons early. Recidivism rates being what they are, that would do far more to reduce violent crime.

Should I require a back ground check when buying a new pair of steel toed boots? I'm pretty sure a fair number of people get kicked to death every year. Wouldn't steel toed boots being used to kick someone be like wearing body armor to commit armed robbery? :gasp:

Some of these politicians are being willfully and forcefully stupid to please the low information voters.
