Looking for a good powder charge for my 9mm using universal powder and 115 grn round nose fmj bullets?

Here's the data:

Do the work up if you want the best shooting ammo. Load 8 at 4.5 gr and 8 more at each +0.1 gr increment until you get to 5.0. That should use up 48 cases. Keep track of the loads and try them out starting with the lightest load. Look for pressure signs, function and accuracy out of your pistol. If you see pressure signs then stop and consider the previous lighter load as the maximum. Choose the most accurate for your gun.

Any ones suggested load is only a guess for the best out of your pistol and is no better than you just choosing some load between min and max at random.

What would the difference be between the lrn and the fmj as far as the powder charge is concerned? (I'm new at this)

LRN is a lead round nose and FMJ is full metal jacket. Lead projectiles will typically have a lower charge range.

Do you mind telling me how you cut and paste the chart, for some reason I can't get that down right.

After selecting the "print" option the chart will display on the screen. Then use the "print screen" key to capture the screen image to the clip board. I then open Paint Shop Pro and paste the screen shot as a new image, but you can use Paint or most other image editing programs as easily. Crop out the chart using the crop tool and "save as" the type of image file you want, usually JPG. That's all there is to it.

Simple short answer: 4.8gr w/115gr FMJ or JHP. 4.5gr w/Lead either will give a little over 1,100fps from ~4"bbl.
