No expert by any means, but it looks original to me. Just guesstimating from the pic, I'd stick a 6" K frame in it and see how it fits. I'm thinking it is for a revolver.

I have tried a number of revolvers in the recent months with no luck on this bad boy. Heading to the pasadena gun show next weekend to try everything in sight. Hopefully have a revolver in this thing in the next couple of weeks! Will post with updates soon.

It appears to me to be for a double-action, hand ejector revolver with an adjustable rear sight. The safety strap goes around the back of the trigger guard, that is fully exposed. It might be for one of the post-1970 Colt's or a lesser known small manufacturer.

After trying all sorts of revolvers in this guy the closest fit I could find was this Smith & Wesson Model 29-2 .44 Magnum. Not only the closest fit, but it feels like this gun truly belongs in the holster. VERY snug in a good way. Beautiful gun with nickel finish, recessed cylinder and pinned 6 inch barrel. The only other possibility anyone could think of was a Colt Anaconda and nobody had one around to try and fit.

I'm very happy with my purchase and thanks for all the help!!
