Show me the money

Thanks everyone for your responses, opinions and advice. I appreciate the support and expertise.
My decision is to take the money and say thank you to colt mfg for their offer. And also thank them for standing behind their product.
I think I'm going to put it towards a gp-100 and put the rest away and use it as a down payment for a new python when one comes around.
Gunkwazy..If you ever get tired of one of yours, send me an E-mail.
Thanks again everyone.

If you are going to purchase the Ruger GP100, I would strongly advise you to carefully inspect the cylinder chambers prior to purchase. In recent years Ruger has been lacking on their quality as far as polish goes. One of the guys at school has a newer Ruger GP100 and the chambers were so rough you could not get the spent brass out of the cylinder. The chamber is supposed to be polished to 400 grit, 600 ideally but since ruger cylinders are a casting you can't alter them after manufacture. Just watch out. Otherwise they are great guns.

Michael Zeleny..thanks for your opinion. If you read my last post, I said I was putting the balance away to use towards a 'new to me' python when one comes around. They're not real easy to come by around here and I don't like buying a gun from the net. My local gun shop guy is keeping an eye out for me and will call me when one comes in.

It is easy enough to find a Python in Pennsylvania. If you share my preference for early guns, here is one and here is another. Nickel finish commands higher bids. The right gun would be well worth a drive.
