I took the Jordan Trooper stocks off my Security Six this afternoon to thoroughly clean the gun.

When I reassembled the gun, the stock screw would not engage the female portion of the opposite stock enough to tighten down. The stocks appeared to be on the gun properly.

I tried it with the stocks off the gun, and had the same result.

I also tried a different stock screw from another pair of Herrett stocks, and there was no difference.

The brass female portion is not stripped; the screw engages OK when put directly in without the other stock being in the way. For some reason the screw no longer reaches far enough.

Any suggestions?

Bob,
You are not trying to put the screw in from the wrong side are you? Otherwise, sounds like one of the grips is not sitting all the way down on the frame.

Good shooting and be safe.

I had a set of Herret Jordan Troopers on a Stainless Security Six and loved them.

Is it possible that either of the bushings was pushed out when you removed them? That is the only way a screw that used to be long enough suddenly becomes too short. Or, I'm stumped.
