Unusual S & W rear sight

A good friend had a s & w revolver, K frame as I recall with an aftermarket rear adjustable sight that screwed into the top sideplate screw. As I recall it was adjustable for elevation only ( I could be mistaken) I just saw one on gunbroker that was on a model 10.

Any info would be greately appreciated.

Easily installed on a five screw Smith, but has to have a hole drilled and tapped on a three or four screw gun, or a Colt.
