To those interested: I got word back from Federal about the 300 wsm Fusion ammo I had to return due to an entire box not chambering in my Tikka. The representative told me that the head and shoulder length were at SAMMI max and this was the cause of the rounds not chambering.

Coincidentally, the replacement ammo (2 boxes of Barnes TSX rounds) that Federal sent me arrived this morning. While just a hair snug, they do chamber in my rifle. I was impressed that Federal sent this ammo next day air after I told them that the Maine deer season starts on Saturday!

All-in-all, I am impressed with Federal's prompt and courteous service. They sent out the replacement ammo before they even had the test results of the ammo I sent back. I was sure to send them a grateful email.

Good to hear they took care of you. I know a guy that has tried that same stuff (Fusion ammo in 300WSM) and didn't have the best of luck with it. It wouldn't group all that well out of his gun.

Then again I've shot some Federal ammo out of my 338RUM that grouped great all the way out to 800 yards.

They seem to be hit or miss (literally) with their ammo these days.

I'm interested to see how these Vital Shok rounds with the Barnes bullets shoot. I'm not going to hunt with them until I have a chance to see how they group out of my rifle, which won't be for a while since rifle season for deer starts on Saturday and that's what I'll be doing with any spare time.
