Hi All - Not sure if this is the right forum to post this info, but I wanted to get it out. I just received a notice from Second Chance reference the Ultima Armor upgrade program. As you may recall, when SC discovered the problem with Zylon, they offered a "Performance Pac" to augment the original armor to keep it at specs; or a discounted sale of new armor w/o Zylon. I opted for the Performance Pac. Yesterday I received a letter from SC indicating that testing has shown that the Performance Pac might not provide the warrented protection afterall, and that I should discontinue use of my armor as soon as a replacement could be found. As luck would have it, my agency just procured new armor for all of us, so I've got another option.
I assume that SC mailed the same notice out to all registered owners of Ultima with the Performance Pac, but I'm not sure if some officers have armor issued through their agency without individual info being recorded. Also, I know that mass mailings frequently miss all intended recipients, so PLEASE pass this info on to anyone you know wearing an Ultima series vest with the Performance Pac.
