updated my 870 Express Magnum that I've had since I turned 15. still have the wood stocks, just wanted to try something different. it had a 28inch barrel which I have swapped out for a 18.5inch mossberg replacement. Also added the +2 mag extension and the 6 shot sidesaddle. had to do a little modification to the new fore-end to get it to work with the sidesaddle. the stock is the composite stuff from a new 870. I'll probably pick up a speedfeed stock and put on it. funny thing is though, now that I put the black stuff on, I miss the wood stocks.

admar2,

Looks as if you've done a good job with it so far. Hope you rounded off the back of the forearm after you shortened it- they can bite. Do get a clamp on that magazine extension though... it needs one.

Is that S&B you have it stoked with? That will most likely get you fast opening patterns for sure. And smell like a burning mattress when you shoot it. It's good cheap ammo in my experience with it, long as open patterns are OK.

Stay safe,

I rounded down the back of the fore-end pretty good after I cut it down.

I didn't figure on the S&B being any high quality stuff considering how cheap it is.

any leads on where to get the clamp for the extension?

nope, don't have any pics with the wood stocks, probably a good thing, it'd just make me want to switch them back that much more.

and shooting it is on the list of things to do this weekend ;)

What's the big deal with the clamp?

I think the wood looks better too ;)

.., about "the big deal with the clamp:" think "recoil," "pumping the gun" and "bumping against things;" the goal is to have all of the parts of the gun remain attached and in the same positions relative to each other.

admar2,
now that I put the black stuff on, I miss the wood stocks.
Looks cool; I like wood better too, though.

I know: burn up a lot of ammo with it looking like this, then put the wood back on and shoot it a whole bunch more, then back to black for a lot more ammo, then get some more ammo and ... ;)

considering I've had it since I was 15, it has seen its fair share of ammo already. ;)

I'm thinking I might just switch it back to wood and get me another one to "go tactical" with .
