I went another route with my 1917, it too was semi sporterized, and I put it back to as much origional as I could, full mill stock and hand guards, recut the shortened barrel for the issue front sight, as it was drilled and tapped for a lyman reciever sight I added one just to get the old girl up and shooting untill I can figure a way to reinstall the sight ears and make up a windage adjustable rear, put a dayton traister trigger on it and it really does shoot well, love the clip guide feature, makes for rapid reloads. Yhr 1917 is really a fantastic rifle
