Does anyone here have any single action revolvers from US Firearms? Word is that they're making better SAA's than Colt is nowadays. Anyone care to weigh in on that claim? Also, do they use frame mounted or hammer mounted firing pins? Thanks for any information you can provide.

Word is that they're making better SAA's than Colt is nowadays.

I haven't bought a single action revolver yet, but if and/or when I do, it'll be a U.S.F.A. rather than a Colt. I've been looking at them on and off for a couple years now. The average Ruger is better finished than a Colt, whereas the U.S.F.A. models I've looked at have been what Colts used to be some decades ago.

I have a USFA Flattop Target in .44 special. I would say that the only revolver I have ever owned to better it from a fit and finish standpoint would be Freedom Arms.

The only reason I say better is the WAY an FA is fitted, so as to be able to handle .454, .480, etc. Otherwise my Flattop is the best revolver I have ever owned and that includes many Colt single actions.

No Colt I have owned or handled matches the USFA. Plus, even with a premium version like mine (flattop, upgraded grips) I still spent less than a garden variety Colt.

All American made, all American parts, better finish and fit, more accurate tooling, made in the old Colt building. Why would I want to buy a Colt?

Yeah, I have a few Colt 2nd Gen guns and a Colt 3rd Gen.

And I have a USFA. The 2nd Gens are really nice... but the USFA is at least as good, and it's tighter and more accurate. Fit and finish of the USFA is as good as anything I've ever seen, I guess...

The Colt 3rd Gen ain't even in the running... the hammer has scarred from cocking on one side, the trigger is hard, gritty and creepy. :(

Word is that the newer 3rd Gens are superior, but I'd have to see it. Which I haven't.

Buy the USFA and it'll quickly become your favorite gun. :)

Hope that helps!
