There's a batch of AK clones with what are supposedly US made receivers from an outfit called "Eubanks." Anyone know about these? They have fairly nice furniture by AK standards and a mix of TAPCO and Romanian parts.

They're selling at $500 locally, but that seems high. I just want to get some more info on them as all my searchs have come up empty on the name of the company that supposedly made the receivers.

Probably JoeKen guns. They make the ewbank receiver. The receiver gets good reviews, but everything else from Joeken seems to be junk.

They could just be home-builds, however, or another company using the ewbanks receiver.

I was spelling Ewbank wrong! Here's the rifle:

I can still find very little information about who's putting them together. They feel quite solid. Joeken appears to be selling the original Romanian rifles, but I think these are different. Besides there's no joeken mark on them.

Yup. Probably a home-build. It should work great if it was built right.

I'd say build it yourself and save some $ (and have fun). The kits with barrels will be gone in 2 months by 9/10/05.

Also since this gun is made on a Ewbank receiver it has a five year warranty. Do you know anyone that will give you that kind of warranty on the cheap wasr rifles going around I don't think so.
  :uhoh:

Wheres the warranty come from? The receiver maker? They're going to warranty someone elses build?

I personally would never buy a kit build sight unseen when i didnt even know who built it. Anything can look good in a picture that small. Mess something up by a mm or two and it will never feed or function, or could even be dangerous.

The receiver may be getting good reviews, but make sure you get a well reviewed builder as well.

Joeken is directly affiliated with ewbanks. I think the 'ken' in joeken is ken ewbanks. Could be wrong, but its something like that. They've confirmed this (well, people got all the business info and they eventually admitted to it) in a huge train wreck of a thread on ak47.net. So it isnt really joeken by name, but it is.

As far as who put it together..who knows. Builders dont have to have their name on the rilfe. If you're handling one in Alaska its either someone reselling joeken guns, or someones kit builds on ewbanks receivers. Same with the one on gunbroker, in illinois. Joeken is in arizona i think.

If its a reputable shop that will offer some kind of warranty, and you dont see any problems when handling it, then it probably wouldnt carry much risk.
