Today I saw a used H&K USP for $589. It has clearly been holstered quite a lot, and the sales guy said it belonged to a highway policeman on a motorcyle. I'm thinking about getting it. Comments, please. Thanks.

I bought a Used HK USP 45 several years ago for $499. The exterior was in about 80% condition. Internals looked decent. It was a good shooter and functioned 100%.
I like police trade-in pistols because they have exterior wear, but they haven't been shot very much. They are great values, and can be brought up to speed with a spring kit and an aftermarket finish (if applicable).

Compare with the price standard...CDNN... to see if the new Versus used differential is to your liking. The USP is a very robust gun, with a tough finish, making police trade-ins of them a potential winner.

Which model are you looking at? Link?

Ditto on what usp and sapper said.
I personally like LEO trade ins....
Dull and worn on the outside and shiny on the inside and cheaper than new ones....

Exactly!!!

Hk Dan, that's exactly what I thought. So, I bought a brand new HK .45 for just under $1,200, built in 2009. The only history this one will have for some time will be the history IIIIIII put on it.:)

The night sights, though...

Thanks, benderx4, but the night sights seem to need some "recharging". How do yours fare? Thanks.

There ya go! And call me before ya buy another HK...LOLOLOL. Look, I only ask for a percentage of what I save ya (kidding). Congrats on the new gun--it's great and you'll loveit!

Price is a bit high, but HKS are a fine gun(their policies and CS aside)

Im sure it will serve you well!

Haven't tracked prices recently, but my experience with used USPs in the past has been that they hold up well.

And +1 on former police guns. For every one cop who is a serious shooter and puts his weapon through its paces regularly, there are at least a half dozen who don't clear leather except for quarterly/annual/whatever required departmental quals. Holster wear is a bigger issue than internals wearing out most of the time.
