What would be a good selling price for a Mossberg 500 with wood stock, adjustable cheek riser and cantilever slug barrel if I was to sell to a LGS or through my gun club? I am debating on buying a Beretta A300 in camo with the green receiver for $650 and would like to let the Mossberg go to do so. I have never sold one of my guns so looking for some insight. Another part of me says keep the Mossberg and slug barrel as a backup deer combo but I already have 2 deer rifles. I have also thought about giving the slug barrel to a buddy who has nothing to deer hunt with.

New price less somewhere between 1/4 and 1/3 is generally the price for good condition used guns. Here lately it’s been a bit higher with the panic and pandemic. Before selling it through a LGS who will charge commission or will screw you 8 ways til Sunday on a trade-in (not all shops but many) you could list it here in the classified section.

Just buy the new gun and keep the Mossy. The amount you pay will be long forgotten and you will still have the Mossberg to play with or lend out. I gave up worrying about the money years ago (and I'm just a blue collar working stiff) but it always works out and six months down the road I wonder why I was ever worried in the first place....

Another vote for keeping it. If nothing else, you have a "foul weather" gun that can be dragged through the brush and briars in the snow and rain without worry. But if you must sell it, don't expect much over $200 for the lot.

Not in Arizona. Last gun show there was a 45 minute wait, just to get in the door. Used shotguns were SELLING for over $500. Don't ask how much SKS's were.

Normal I would say keep it used 500's used to go for $150 to $225, but today you might get closer to $400 to $450. If there was ever a time to sell its now. However the next question is will you ever be able to replace it.

Looking at the price for new ones on GB there are plenty available for under $400. Your used set selling to a store would at the very best bring $200 in my opinion. Selling outright to the public perhaps $250 to $300 max.

I agree with give it to your buddy. Barter with him for it. I've been known to trade a box of shells for some good cuts of venison,
from time to time.
