used SIG 225's at CDNN ?

hi guys, i'm betting some of you have noticed the police-trade-in SIG 225's at CDNN. can't seem to get them outa my head, so,not gonna buy one,nooooo,nothing like that, just thought i'd ask a couple questions. i mean, what can it hurt,right ?
anyway, i've had a 226 for 20 + years and love it ( though you wouldn't know it by how infrequently i've shot it). i don't know much about the 225, i've read that it's no longer imported. i'm wondering if entire pistol is thinner due to the the single stack 8 round mag, making it more ideal for carry. i'd appreciate any info on this pistol,and these trade ins from CDNN in particular, many thanks,as always.........m

I don't know much about CDNN, but the P-225 is my favorite SIG. Think of it as a kind of compact P-220, so it's thin in the grip area, which has a very comfortable rounded backstrap, has a 3.9 or so, bbl. This has to be one of the best dual-purpose( duty & ccw) pistols ever made! The "police trade-ins" that you're speaking of are probably some of the German police P-6s. Some have seen some rough service but many have been re-furbished very well. I hope this helps!

Thats what I've been saying for the last year. I gave in about a week ago. P6 at Gander for $350.

I replaced a bunch of the springs, including the main spring. It had a heavy DA trigger because of it. Also replaced the mag springs. The slide wasnt locking back on empty on a regular basis. Still isnt. I'm wondering at thins point if it isnt the ammo. Got some NATO I want to try before I call it the gun. Put some night sights on it too. It shoots good, just like the rest of them. May just have to get another..... Damned one is none, two is one SIG disease!

I bought a P225 a few years ago from one of my friends here. It was before the P6's started coming in and I paid a premium for it and to this day have no regrets. It's in better overall shape than the police tradins as far as finish, and it shoots like a dream. Mine has SIG night sights that are getting dim and I'll probably replace them with SIGs sometime in the future.

Yes, it's like a more compact P220, which itself is pretty much Commander sized. It's the third SIG Classic model I purchased. The only downside to it, in my opinion, is the single-stack mag but then it was designed in a time before that was the standard. It doesn't have the capacity of my PCR, for example, but it's a natural pointing pistol and makes a comforting companion.

thanks guys,that's what i wanted to know. i'm already a happy CDNN customer, those guys rock, and from what i've read, they grade their used guns very fairly.
and yes, these are the P6 police trade ins. i found another company in shotgun news selling them for $299, even cheaper that CDNN's $359, but i'd still likely go with CDNN's very good/excellent rated pistols. HHMMMMM,what to do,what to do................................

Do you have a Gander down there near you? They will at least let you look through a couple to see if you can find a "better" one. I've seen them from pristine to pretty bad. Of course, there were no pristine there when I finally made up my mind.

CDNN is a great outfit to deal with. If you have any issues with a product they sell you they will make it right. I had trouble with some magazines once and I recieved replacements from them the day after I shipped the bad ones back.
That means that they passed each other in the mail!
I would have no reservations about buying from them and no worries about buying a SIG in general. Even a used SIG would suit me better than most other new handguns.
Handle one if you can, and if you like it, buy it.

I'm a big fan of the 225, so it won't be me who tries to convince you not to get one.

As for CDNN, I've spent quite a bit of money with them and generally had good experiences. A couple of things to watch out for, however. They generally have so many guns in so many different conditions that, on rare occasion, they run the risk of shipping you the right gun in the wrong condition. This can be good or bad. Another thing is that, again because of the sheer number of guns they deal with, they tend not to test each one for function. On the other hand, they are generally excellent about fixing any errors in your order.

The only thing CDNN does that really bothers me is that, on surplus semi-autos, they tend to remove the spare magazines and sell them separately to keep the prices down. Note that their 225s only come with one magazine.

Awesome pistols. They're not terribly popular because they're single stack, but I've found them to be one of the only semis I could really love. Accuracy is tack-driving. Ergonomics perfect. Function flawless.
