What to look for? Any known weaknesses, issues I should search for on this revolver? Found one for $250.

Thanks.

On some guns the loading lever likes to drop down when you shoot it, but you won't know if this gun does that till you shoot it.

Good morning,
I have seen where a little is filed off the latch to make it hook a little more securely so as not to drop the lever with every shot. My Walker had apparently had issues with this as well. It came from the previous owner with a loading lever and latch from a Dragoon professionally installed...along with the original Walker latch still in place as well. Works very well. ;o)

Umm maybe you mean all or almost all. That is to be expected. It's a known quirk that has plagued every user or most every user since it's invention. Light puffy powder loads may not be enough to flip the lever though I would not buy a Walker for powder puff loads or even standard percussion revolver loads, why would I want to do that.

A piece of leather or bandana tied around the barrel so that it may slip over the loading lever solves the problem.

I use a bit of leather shoelace but I gather some people use rubber bands or o rings similarly. You just slide it on and off so you can still use the lever as necessary.

There is a Colt Second Generation Walker on an auction site (left nameless as there might be someone here bidding on it) that's commanding some serious money from bidders.

A lot of people luv em.

$250.00? BUY it! Even if it needs work, you'll love that huge freaking Colt. Or Pietta, or whatever, but even a Remmie lover like myself has to admit that's packing iron.

You can also solder two pieces of copper pipe; of which one fits over the barrel and the other over the loading lever. That will stop the flapping jaw effect.

I ended up with an ASM Walker, after bidding on one that was mislabeled on Gunbroker, a minty pistol for $200. I didn't really want one, but couldn't pass it up. I saw an original in a museum that had a band discoloration about mid barrel just past the base of the loading lever and the mark extended over the lever, so the originals had problems too and ties were used, at least with one original! Oh, and now I shoot my Walker almost as much as my ROA's, beware they are addictive!:cool:;)

I agree grab it while you can provided it's in good condition.
