I was given a couple thousand Lg. Pistol Mag. primers & want to use them in a very light cowboy load. Either 4.6G Clays or a light Trailboss load with a 200 G lead bullet for my 45colt revolver. All the recipes call for Lg. Pistol primers. How will the Mag. primers affect the loads?

Mag primers in lighter loads should not give you any pressure problems. I have been using mag primers only recently and have not noticed any difference as compared to the standards (then again I was not loading max).

During the shortage, last winter, I couldn't find small pistol primers.
What I found were small magnum pistol primers.

I used them for 38 spl, 9mm & 357 mag.
As long as you stay under max load, you'll be just fine.

About six months ago I ran out of large pistol primers. I loaded up some 45acp using large magnum pistol primers using the the same charge I normally use. The only difference that I could tell, was tighter groupings...

I have seen this too on occasion.
