USA, I travel alot.
Tell me about the USP 40 F. I swore I would never, never own a 40, until I had the chance to fondle a USP 40 F. I dont think the 40 has any advantage over the 9mm or 45, but hell, that USP felt right in my hand.

I love them and want one, own or shoot most all the COOL 1911's and clones and am a much better shot with the ergonomics of the USP 40.

not really impressed my mine. It's been utterly reliable with zero malfunctions, but the trigger is horrible. DA is extremely heavy and gritty, single action is mushy at best. Backstrap serrations are overly aggressive and do not make for pleasant 400rnd shooting sessions. It does point well for me and is pretty accurate but I have to concentrate more than I would with my Sigs, XD, or 1911s. I may have Bruce Gray work over the trigger.

Mine is one of my favorite pistols in 40sw (out of 8), it's very accurate and has been totally reliable.

Just so you know, the USP9 and USP40 (top two in the pic) are the exact same size, so if you like the feel of the USP40 but would rather have it in 9mm just buy the USP9.

I bought mine just before the '94 "ban" went into effect, because I (mistakenly) feared that anything with mag capacity over 10 would be taken off the shelves! :uhoh:

So I spent six hundred some-odd dollars and got a USP 40. LOVE it! It's accurate and summarily reliable! 13+1 rounds. Easy to take down and clean, too. I just wish I knew how to take the guts out of it like you can with a Glock, though.

The slide action has a raspy-silky sound and feel to it. Think of a nicely aligned file cabinet drawer, the kind with rollers. :) It's flippin' sweet!

Of course, I wouldn't mind having a Mk23, but for double the price??

Okay, I read Sactown's review and I am inclined to agree.

That backstrap texturing can surely leave marks on the hands!

I know that the trigger may not be the best, but I am not a good critic of that (not being the huge gunner that many here are, with dozens of guns and decades of experience and knowledge). I know that the trigger does flex a bit, but I just don't know what exactly to be looking/feeling for in a "good" or "bad" trigger.

Damn, just when I am about to decide on getting a USP40F, my buddy, brings over a Para 14 45, and lets me look at it, then, like a fisherman setting a hook, he goes: "lets go shoot it, I have 500 rounds of 45 in the truck." I hate him, now I am leaning towards the 14 45. I guess I should start a 40 vs 45 thread to help me decide. :D

Don't kid yourself, the HK USP 40 is one of the finest pistols I've ever seen or shot. Literally blows away the Sigs and Glocks. The Special Operators (SOCOM) picked it for a reason. I didn't want to spend that much money but my brother convinced me to plunk down on the USP 40. Best advise I ever got. If I had one pistol left this would be it. Utterly reliable, very accurate, trigger much better than advertised. Only downside is it is a truly fully sized. Huge grips. I have big hands and it fits perfectly. Smaller hands may complain.

There is a reason the HK USP 40 costs more than the competition. It is a much better pistol. I can't wait to shoot the 2000!

Cowboy up and buy the USP- you'll be thanking me later!!

Yes, the DA on the USP in the DA/SA mode can be quiet a lot of travel and pressure than some other like setups. I don't like DA too much on it. Apparently this was more of an issue with the early versions of the USP. Saying that I don't have any problems with the SA on it, to which you can carry in this mode with a safety. I shoot with it very well. It's not a 1911. It's a polymer gun in the realm of Glock, and XD.

I too actually am interested in the para 14/45. One thing though, many on here don't speak well of new para's. Is there anyone here who can speak to them?

Sactown: Does Bruce Gray accept work for USP's? How does one look into that?

I have a new para and couldn't be happier. I think the new paras are awesome.
