I have a chance to pick up .40S&W 165gr Gold Dot at $179/1000. Unfortunately, I've never tried them in my USP Compact. They normally run $13 or so for a box of 20, so this is a great deal. I was going to pick up a box of 20 and try them before placing such a large order, but nobody locally stocks them, and the sale only runs for a few days. Should I order?

I had a usp compact that shot 155gr gold dots just fine. Every gun has a mind of it's own though. I would go for the 155 or 180 gold dots before the 165gr, but they are all good.

I don't have the compact versions but I do have an original (1993) USP 40 and a recently acquired USP 45 Expert.

They both feed and fire anything. Some loads more accurate than others though . . .

What Highland Ranger said - My USP45C eats anything/everything - POI will vary some.

My experience with Gold Dots in everything from .32 to .45 has only been positive. FWIW

I saw a few mentions on one of the H&K boards that some people have had trouble with the bulk Gold Dot. So now I'm a little unsure... it's a really good deal if it works well, but if it doesn't, then it's a lot of money.

I have a USP40 compact and it has eaten everything I've fed it. Hydrashoks, Golden Sabers, UMC, American Eagle, WWB, S&B, PMC, Magtech, and various types of reloads. I'm willing to bet it would eat up Gold Dots with no trouble too. But it goes without saying, test it in your gun before you trust your life with it.

Buy a box or two or three and run 'em through.
