I have a USP .45. I understand the major differences between it and the tactical are the barrel with the o-ring, trigger assembly and the sights. The question I have is does HK make a o-ring barrel other than the one with the threads, and what exactly is the trigger difference? Also what is involved in changing the USP variants?

Your USP

HK does not make an unthreaded O-ring barrel but there are after market ones to be had from other manufacturers, Bar-Sto for example.

The Tac trigger is a Match Trigger group with a trigger stop screw. Some say the feel of the DA is improved, weight and smoothness versus travel. Others say the improvement is slight and equal or better results can be had for a standard USP with a trigger job by Teddy Jacobsen or Bruce Grey, or by simply shooting it a lot.

Variant changes are accomplished by changing out the detent plate and/or the control lever. If you could get the parts it would be simple enough to do with detailed instructions or you could send it back to HK or have a certified HK armorer do it.

Check the BB at HK-Pro.com for answers to any other questions you might have.

The jury still seems to be out on how much the o-ring increases accuracy. The standard USP45f is such an accurate gun, I would be tempted to try a little load developement before I made a $200 "upgrade" that you may never realize benefits from.

Unless a person fully plans on buying a suppressor, I really think the Tactical model is money poorly spent. Most owner take off the huge sights, for instance.

The barrels for the Experts & the Elites are o-ring barrels. I don't know if theyare available as an aftermarket purchase tho.
The match trigger kit is available and will definitely lighten the trigger pull.

The Expert and Elite have O-ringed threadless barrels. I don't think the barrels for these will fit the USP45f, though, as the barrels' O-rings touch the slides farther out than the 45f. That is, the O-ring would be in the wrong location to have any effect if placed in the 45f. Not sure, but the Tactical barrel might work.
