(I hope people get that) ;)

I think you're talking about the savagery that is Churchball. :D Am I right?

As far as I know, it's just a Utah thing. The bish ( ;) ;) ) didn't say a thing about it in church yesterday.

Really though, if you're carrying correctly, no one should know you are carrying.

For those of you who don't live in Utah, LDS or not, the REASON that this has come up is because of the yearly attempt to get a "safe to worship, safe to learn" type bill passed in the Legislature. (I intentionally did NOT capitalize the quote, and Utahn's will understand.) That and the fact that the part of the "clarification" law passed last year requiring churches that do infact ban firearms from their premises to register that fact has had a lot of "we won't register" press from quite a few local churches. Seems they all feel it's OK for law-abiding gun owners to register with the state, but for some reason it's NOT OK for them to have to do it. Seems more than a tad hypocritical to me.

And the reason for the registration is so that law-abiding CCW permittees can have a logical place to look for "bans" since the law also says that a church does NOT have to post signs. Logical because the Utah BCI handles all CCW stuff.

I, too, wonder just how they are going to enforce this "ban" , 'cause I don't think many church-goers are going to stand for metal detectors or wands. I've ALWAYS said these "bans" are foolish on so many levels, not the least of which is HOW ARE THEY GOING TO KNOW? "Concealed is concealed.":neener:

I personally think that the Scouts and "other activities" will have a larger impact, as I know several Hunter Education instructors/Scout leaders that ONLY use the ward or stake house for their classes.

I truely feel for my LDS friends, but most of them are like George, and I'll refer to the above quote once again - "Concealed is concealed.":neener:

For obvious reasons, I hope some sociopath doesn't read this the way we all feel - "defenseless sheeple here". Sad.

LOL, I'd hate to see the guy that thinks Mormons are defenseless sheeple...
:what:
We've "turned the other cheek" as a group before, over and over again... from New York all the way step by step to Utah. We are SO done being pushed.

"Prthonium, let me correct you. The LDS Church NEVER had an anti polygamy revelation. The revelation was that it was better to stop allowing polygamy -- but it wasn't anti polygamy."

Actually, The Manifesto, aka Official Declaration #1, is a statement of policy - not a revelation. Wilford Woodruff simply denied that any polygamous marriages were being performed, and that he intened to follow the law. There was no revelation.
