Utah Concealed license good in most all states ? To good to be true. The last Gun show at the Will Rogers Center in Fort Worth a booth had some people dressed in Police looking uniforms, selling training for Utah Concealed carry. I gathered they claimed the license was good in most all states and it is not necessary to contact the other states to get a reciprocal license.

I do not believe what they were pushing. At best, maybe, just a maybe, they were saying the Utah license would be accepted for CCL appicaltion in another state.

Hope I said all that correctly. Could be I was tired of walking and did not fully understand what was said.

It sounds like you might not be familiar with how most states handle firearms carry permits/licenses. A great many do, indeed, recognize permits issued by various other states. Each state has its own set of agreements on that (usually official arrangements between the Attorneys General of those states), so you need to look at the state's published list (like Ramman911 said, handgunlaw.us is a GREAT site for that) and see which licenses they recognize.

FL and UT are recognized by the largest number of other states. I hold a License to Carry Firearms from my state (PA) with which I may carry a handgun in about 28 states. When I added my UT non-resident permit, that number jumped up to about 34 states, because UT is recognized by several states that do not recognize the PA license.

Got my Utah five years ago....not good in Florida as I'm not a Utah resident. Got a Florida and now I'm good to go there. Neither good in Michigan, Illinois (duh), or several other states which either don't recognize other states' ccws or don't recognize ccws for people who aren't the resident of states ccw they hold.

Best bet, and I do this before every trip out of state, is to go to the website for the state you're going to/travelling through and check the regs. Most, for example, do not allow carrying in municipal offices, state parks, places where alcohol is served (most restaurants in the south), and others. I know, some do, but for your own legal protection, check before you go.
 
Yes, PapaG raises a good point. (Though it may seem obvious.) Your TX permit is good in ~32 other states, but you must follow the laws of the state you are in -- and those may be very different from the laws you are used to in TX. Check handgunlaw.us or the websites of the states you're going to visit to make very sure you understand what you can and can't do under THAT STATE's law.

(Also, FWIW, remember that even if your state preempts the federal Gun Free Schools law for permit holders, that is ONLY valid for your state of residence.
