I just bought my first m1 carbine Sunday. I cleaned it up and have a decent amount of ammo I bought with it but would like to get reloading once I shoot some and get the brass. I am looking at bullets for it and will probably get some just plain fmj's since they are cheaper but also saw the 110 grn hornady v-max. On brownells somebody asked if they could use it and brownells responded saying they haven't heard of any problems so I was wondering if any of you have tried the v-max in the m1-carbine. Is it much more accurate than fmj, jhp, or soft point? Does it feed ok?

I would think the v-max would offer superior accuracy and since it probably has a much better ballistic coefficient than the stand m1 carbine rounds it could offer a much better effective range along with less drop for the m1 carbine.

The 110 V-Max feeds fine in my 300 BLK. I don't know why they wouldn't in .30 Carbine.

The V Max is slightly longer than the blunt nosed Carbine bullet. They could be made to fit and feed but the propellant charge will be smaller due to less volume behind the bullet when seated to fit the MAG. Something to think about. I would like to see the accuracy gains posted if you find they are significant. I am thinking a pricier bullet and small gain in performance. I still have a 25 LB box of off brand JSP Carbine bullets to work through still so I will not be experimenting for a while yet.

RW Dale beat me to it.
