Maybe someone can help me with this.
Yesterday I went to the range with friend who brought along a S&W pistol it
was parkerized and had a v before the serial no.,it belonged to his grand mother and she may have fired it five or six times, it looked absolutely perfect, had smooth grips and a lanyard hole.
several people at the range said it was worth a lot of money.
Does any one have an idea what its worth?
Thanks in advance ..Mike

We are discussing the S&W Victory Model of the period 1942 to 1945. Americans were issued .38 Specials the Commonwealth countries got .38 S&W. There are many sub-variations and post war modifications. They were dumped in mass onto the post war surplus market. Depending on a number of factors value ranges from about $200-$700. A survey of the on-line auctions using Victory in their revolver section will give your friend a start.
Otherwise a highly detailed description is needed.
