It is getting close to the election and I'm still not sure who to vote for.

VCDL did a survey, and while Tim Kaine (D) did not answer all the questions favorably, at least he answered them. Jerry Kilgore did not and that worries me. He's really conservative, so I imagine he would have answered the questions to my liking, but still . . .

maybe he's just trying to court the "mommies" vote in the middle and doesn't want to rock the boat.

Right now, I think Kaine is disqualified for being the mayor of Richmond. I think any Richmond mayor should not be governor, unless he can be known as "The one who turned things around" :D

Anyways, I know we have a lot of Virginians here, so I thought I'd start the discussion.

I'm in the same boat, John. I cannot imagine voting for Tim kaine ever. Not because of RKBA issues, as he at least talks a pretty good game there--rather on just about all the other issues. But I'm not impressed with Kilgore either. I'm leaning toward him because of his stance on other issues, but I'm preparing for him to break my heart like bush has done.:neener:

The problem is that Kilgore's camp shot the candidate in the <insert name for very sensitive body part> a few weeks ago when responding to the fact that Kilgore had not replied to the VCDL survey.

I can't remember the name or job, but the guy said something that Phillip Van Cleve (pres of VCDL) had no credibility regarding 2nd Amendment issues. Since then, Kilgore has not said anything to refute the statement of his staffer.

Kaine lost any hope of a vote from a gunny with a memory when, as Mayor of Richmond he paid (with city funds!) for a bunch of buses to take folks up to DC for the Million Mom March. Seems it was later pointed out that using city funds for that was not legal, and he reimbursed the city. Funny thing is - there was never any talk of the act being illegal or him being charged with any of a variety of possible crimes.

[rant] Virginia needs to enact both felony and capital stupidity laws to cover things like that.[/rant]

The "Independent" candidate, Russ Potts, is currently polling about 4%, and has not completed the VCDL survey either.

You can search here and a few other boards for comments about writing in Phillip Van Cleve for governor. He says he is not running, and will not serve if elected, but I for one would not mind if he responded to the will of the voters and took office.

Right now the Virginia governor's race is a giant negative ad swapping between Kilgore & Kaine. I'm so disgusted I thought about not voting at all, till the comment about Phil & VCDL. Now I figure that if I write in Phil it will at least be some sort of message.

AND I'm going to get punchcard ballots again!

I'm going to go wrap my head in duct tape.

stay safe.

Kaines has strong financial backing from NJ billionaire politicians Sen. Lautenberg and Sen. Corzine.

Maybe that should provide a hint .............

Kilgore doesn't impress me much, but Kaine is really scary especially after his "the death penalty is the same as muder" statement!

+1

Kilgore went from having my vote to NOT having my vote...as in I most likely will not vote for either of them now.

When I emailed the campaign about the VCDL issue I was basically told that if I was a 2nd Amendment supporter that Kilgore was my only choice. Can't belive they would make those statements about PVC in the first place - he's done more for 2A than any of them have.

The sad thing is, all they would have to do is apologize...just APOLOGIZE and this would all go away and they'd get I don't know how many votes back.

STUPID! :cuss:

Another here not voting for Kilgore and the rest of his arrogant staff-just wait till he has some power if he's this arrogant now.

I'm doing a write in-one that Kilgore will know was a vote against him, without voting for Kaine.

I will be voting for Kilgore. This is only because Russ crackPotts and Tim Kaine can't be trusted at all. Not even a little bit. I will also be voting for Bolling for Lt. Gov. However, I'm switching to Creigh Deeds for Attny General. In the next cycle it will likely be Bolling vs Deeds for the Governorship and it will be all Bolling for me.

Kilgore and/or his staffers have it in for van Cleve and VCDL as they want the credit for VAs pro-gun legislation of the past couple of years. It is very much a VCDL thing (little to no NRA help either). Anyway, their attitude is childish and counterproductive. If they had simply filled out the "second" survey for VCDL they'd probably have a fairly comfortable lead. They will lose some votes to the Van Cleve as a write-in or Russ Potts. Might swing the election for Kaine!

Yes, the third choice is Russ Potts. He is a republican running as an independent. He is not as well packaged and slick as the other two, but seems honest and willing to answer questions. (all of which I like) He is honest enough to say he will raise taxes to fix the roads. He might stand a chance if not for that and the fact that he is spending a few thousand dollars versus the many millions the other two have raised.

Not many good choices I'm afraid. The TV ads seem focused on who would execute hitler. No, really, I am not making this up.

PVC.

BTW who put up the "Philip Van Cleave for Governor" billboards on the interstates? There's three that I know of - one on I-95 north of Richmond, one on I-66 east of Front Royal, and one on I-81 near Front Royal.
