I signed a petiton for the VCDL to kill the bill to oppose the so called gun show loop hole. Here's the response back from my delegate. He will continue not to get my vote.

Dear Mr. ,

Thank you for expressing your opposition to SB 1257. Although I understand and respect your objection to the legislation, I support closing the gun show loophole.

I recognize that many firearms dealers at gun shows are licensed, and thus are required to perform background checks; however, not all sellers are held to the same standard. Requiring all dealers to perform background checks levels the playing field. In doing so we deter individuals ineligible to purchase firearms from engaging in private sales at gun shows simply to avoid having to undergo a background check. In supporting SB 1257 my goal is to make the public safer by making it harder for ineligible persons to buy guns.

I appreciate hearing from you on this issue and I hope you will continue to bring your concerns to my attention.

Sincerely,

George Barker

Senator, 39th District

At least you got a response. I wrote Al Eisenberg on several gun related issues (among other issues) and Mr. Eisenberg has never responded. I'm glad he isn't running again.

Helpless Folk

I would have started this with SIR, but I dont like to go against the U S constitution. Why do you think we the people need you or anyone else to tend us. I bet that most if not all the folk in these united states are very capable of taking care of themselves. Or are you like the rest of the egomaniacs in office who want to make us dependant on you for allowing us a priviledge insted of the rights our forefathers fought for and bestowed on us? I am tired of people who look down thier noses at the rest of us and determine that we need taking care of. You elected officials have fought to deprive the average citizen of the basic Rights endowed by the constitution for as long as I can remember. I suggest you either admit the average 18 yr. old has the ability to think for himself, or stop sending them overseas to die for his country. This from an old , old man.

Rock Hunter: The only problem I have with what you wrote is that a majority of people did vote for this person. Unless that person changed their stance on gun rights after the election, the people got what they asked for.
