Hi, folks. Some months ago, I tried to arrange a swap for one of my disabled shooting students. He has a mint (read: MINT!) Model 19-3 S&W, P&R, with 6" barrel. Unfortunately, no suitable swap could be arranged.

So, I'm going to sell it for him, and buy something more suitable for wheelchair carry. Question is - what's the 19 worth? It's in superb condition (I've never seen one better), and I understand that the 6" blued models do have some scarcity value. However, I don't want to price it out of the market, so that he doesn't get it sold!

Any suggestions as to a reasonable market value for such a pistol?

The 6" M19's I've seen for sale around here lately seem to be about $350.

I paid $300 for this 19-4 one a few years ago.

Local shop ) www.thebh.com ) currently has a very nice 6" 19-4 on the shelf, with an asking price of $450.

Box and papers? Tools in the box?

Without box or anything else it would be around $350-375 around here, with box, papers and tools it would be around $400.

The guys gave you the correct value range; BUT what could be better for a wheel chair carry? I CAN"T think of ANYTHING?

Gordon, I agree, except for the barrel length - it's too long to fit down the side of his leg in a position where he can easily get his hand on the grip.

As for a price: I suspect I'll price it at $350 and see how it goes. If it doesn't sell, I've got some wiggle room. Fastlane, if you're interested, PM me quickly before I list it! :D
