I've got a S&W 12-2 4" barrel Airweight revolver. My ladyfriend likes its light weight & I'm considering giving it to her. But before I do, I'd like to know what it's worth. (she's not super hot)

I haven't been able to find a comparable one for sale so I'm having a hard time figuring out its value. The gun is in 99% condition, but not excellent. Very close to excellent, but it has a slight drag line & the bluing is thin on the eijector rod.

It appears that there wasn't too many of these made & I'd hate to give away a collectible gun when something else may be substituted. Any one have any idea what this thing is worth?

Sounds like a perfect revolver for a lady friend. Use non +p loads, target wadcutters if you can find them as it is subject to cracking and she will really do well with the light gun. In my experience the gun you give to such loved persons brings much greater than $$$ returns.

I'm confused, who isn't super hot - the gun or the girl? This makes a difference

If the gun's only worth $425, it's a toss-up. I've seen 2" bar. 12-2's for sale for less, but not any 4" bar. ones. The gun doesn't have the original box, but it's in real good condition, 99% I'd say.

The Gun's hot, the girl's so-so. See my predicament?

A new LCR might work, but it'll need a longer bar. than 2".

Well I've blown far more than $400 on girlfriends that weren't worth it. If it really made her happy, I'd probably give it to her. If things don't work out between you two, just treat yourself to a different gun you're really excited about. Haha, that's how I got my first 1911!

A ladyfriend that likes guns deserves a second look.

Bingo. If she likes guns enough that she wants the Model 12, she's worthy of receiving it.
Get another one for yourself to replace it.

When someone says they like/want something, I take that as a compliment and say thank you. I feel no real compunction to give them that thing. Everyone wants everything in the final analysis.
If she's really trying to guilt you out of it, I don't know.

Chances are that she will give the revolver to her next boy friend. Doesn't sound like you are overly interested in this woman. Plus the fact that your revolver is a fairly rare gun and one of the all time great carry guns. Just saying...

I'd save it for "a real hot girlfriend.....:)"..... I kid....it's rare enough to keep or sell and buy her a new air weight.

Research

I would do a very good research on the web to see what a 4" model 12 is worth.

I have been a gun bug for a 'few' decades and I have never seen a 4" barreled model 12.

It might be worth enough to buy 2 guns with, worth checking very carefully.

That.

I'd give a gun to a wife, not a girlfriend. With a girlfriend, there's nothing to keep her from dumping you as soon as you give her the gun.

If you're planning on marrying her, that may be a different story.
And remember, hot women and so-so women all look the same in the dark. It's talent that matters.
I dig chicks who like guns, as long as they don't want to use them on me.

I wouldn't give that model 12 to a girlfriend. A 4 inch one is unique. You may never get that back if you end up not getting along.

"The Gun's hot, the girl's so-so. See my predicament?"

I sure do, the internet is forever.
