Hey everybody, I have a model 10, skinny barrel, serial #D765xxx with the letters x2425 stamped on the yoke. Does anyone have any idea how I can find out its value? It is in mint condition.

Smith and Wesson will provide a letter of authentication, but it cost $50. Ouch.

Thanks for any advice. JB

The model 10 "D" serial number series revolvers were made between 1968 and 1977. Smith & Wesson made 999,999 of them during that time period.

The most common configuration is square butt, blue finish, 4" barrel. One in excellent condition is worth (more or less) $350.00. A 2" snubby for slightly more, while 5 and 6 inch lengths go for slightly less.

What Old Fuff said.

It's a common gun and probably not worth the authentication letter.

$350 sounds about right. Could be less if you had to price it for quick sale, could be a little more if it has the original box and paperwork.

Thanks Guys! You really know your stuff! I was trying to trade for a Beretta Px4; the dealer offered $200 trade-in value. I may try to sell--have to check the laws here in OK. Wish we could get together for coffee! JB

Your dealer's offer is so he can make a profit on your gun when he re-sells it. You will make more money selling it yourself.
