I believe this to be a model 36. It is nickel plated with 3 inch barrel, wood grips. Condition is almost new, no wear to nickel plating, fired very little. I'm not looking for offers right now, but would appreciate fair value estimates. Thanks

We are going to need more information. A serial number (xx for the last two digits) would be helpful. Is there a "dash" number, as in 36-2, etc.?

What grips are on it ( a picture would help)? Do you have the original box?

All of these things will determine value.

Also, it seems that S&W values are very regional. What might be a good buy in some places is high in others.

I checked with some professionals, they say it's worth like 25 bucks but I'll give you $100.00 and pay for shipping!!!;)

Nickel plated guns are not popular around here in the South.
A very good to excellent 3" J frame is worth about $325.

The blued Model 36s in excellent condition seem to go for at least $350 up here ... I'd expect a bit of a premium added for a minty nickel finish and the slightly more rare 3-inch barrel. $400 could be a reasonable value, assuming the condition is LNIB. $450-plus if it's the (very collectable) "Chief's Special Target" Model with adjustable sights ...
