I saw on the Cabela's website last night they put their remaining stock on the previous generation Vanguard's (plastic stock w/ matte blued metal finish) on sale/clearance for $349.

I went and picked up a 300 WBY Mag this morning and paid $378 out the door. Hard to beat that! If I recall, the caliber's they had listed on the website were .243 WIN, .257 WBY MAG, .270 WIN, .308 WIN, 30-06 SPFLD, .300 WIN MAG, & .300 WBY MAG.

Thought some of y'all might be interested. They're limited to the inventory they have (obviously). There were only 2 300 WBY MAG rifles left at the store where I went.

Sportsmans Warehouse, at least the ones I've been in, are selling them at $349+ tax. Great buy if you like the gun.

Jeez, I "needed" a rifle for a pronghorn hunt. Just bought a Savage .308 from one of my friends. If I hadn't gotten it, I'm thinking one of those .243's would be the ticket.

If somebody wanted a coyote/groundhog/deer gun for cheap that would be it.

the stainless ones from cabelas are great rifles, I have experience with one in 257 Weatherby mag and it is sub moa with the right ammo. I don't know about the blued ones though.

I do believe that's the cheapest rifle you can get in the proprietary weatherby chamberings it would IMO be an economical way to try out these cool and kinda obscure chamberings.I mean a 349 dollar rifle in 257 weatherby thats pretty cool as far as I'm concerned.

Exactly!

A few months ago, my lgs was selling new Vanguards chambered in .257 Weatherby Magnum (blued with synthetic stock) for $299.99. That's about as cheap as I've ever seen them go for.

Never seen em that cheap! Tell me you snagged one (or two) at that price?!?

1948CJ2A, they had seven in stock and all were gone in three days after I bought mine. It was only after the flush of getting a new gun on the cheap that I found out how much it was going to cost to feed it...

Glad you got one! Handloading the .257 WBY MAG (or any of the WBY cartridges for that matter) is the most economical option. Having said that, there was a decent deal on Weatherby factory ammo at Bass Pro back around Christmas time. If I recall it was less than $40 for a box of 20 (95-100 gr spire point or similar).

You're right-but it's probably a rifle I won't be firing much after it's sighted in. I mounted a Redfield 4X12 on it.
