I just bought some Varget and it looks like it is two powders mixed together. I figure this is just how it is, but it had a somewhat strong smell too.

It looked like there was a dark gray extruded powder and a gray/green extruded powder. Is that what it is supposed to be?

Thanks for the help.

I'm not there to see your powder, but here's what mine always looks like.

The surface does give off two different reflections, depending upon how the light hits each granule. And it does smell sweet.

I just double checked, and it still looks like two different colors. I took some out and spun it around, moved it in and out of light the green stayed green, and the dark gray stayed dark gray.

The plastic container was sealed and it was made recently, so I think I should be alright. Anyone else know anything?

I know that a few months ago there was a large shipment of new powder coming in, it may be quite possible that you have gotten some of this new lot of powder. What lot number is it?

I really would think that if the lid was still sealed that you are okay.

that's what my varget has always looked like, and it certainly does have an odor... i'm a bigger fan of h-4831 for cologne purposes, but varget will work in a pinch!

seriously, if you are concerned, call the manufacturer. they will be happy to assist you. and if by some slight chance, it is wrong, they will send you a new bottle of powder. no sense it taking a chance and blowing up a gun, or a part of you. telephone calls are cheap compared to hospital bills!

I just cracked the seal on a new bottle of ADI AS2208(H-VARGET) lot number MEM4654, bought just last week.

It appears to be the same as it always has been, all green, all consistant size grannuals.

No telling if it's been further blended with anything else, by the time it reaches the States, but I highly doubt it.

My Varget does NOT look like two different powders mixed together .

CALL HODGDEN POWDER COMPANY !

Don't take chances on uncertain powder !

My supply of Varget is uniform in color and granulation. But I have been loading out of an 8lb keg for a while. Who knows what is coming in now.
