Bought my Vector UZI 9mm 2 days ago from a local dealer here in Utah, same price as Vector ($595). I then drove by Vector and I picked up 4 extra mags (20, 25, 32, 40) and a Vector .22lr conversion kit with 2 - 15 round mags.

Tried out the .22lr kit yesterday - it worked flawlessly with 4 different brands of ammo for about 150 rounds until it started to act up. I think that I need to give the kit a good cleaning, it is filthy. It is worth the money as I could easily hit tennis balls at 50 yards even with the UZI's not so modern sights. I love how I can change calibers in under 30 seconds.

9mm range report - I put 300 rounds of WWB 9mm today on the local indoor range's interactive steel targets. I only missed maybe 5% of the time, most of which I attribute to the too small 100 meter peep site in trying to rapidly engage the moving steel targets. Not one malfuction. All mags work perfect. I love this thing.

I'm really getting the bug to at least SBR this UZI if not surpress it too later on. I'm really glad that I chose the UZI over the Beretta Storm (which was my 2nd choice). The lore and nastalgia of the UZI along with cheap, hi-cap mags and AK-like reliability swayed me. The final straw was the easy caliber conversion to .22lr, that sealed the deal for me.

Details: GI receiver, Model A front Sight. Came with a polymer fixed stock, Vector happily swapped it for a folder.

This UZI will definitely be in my "Never trade or sell" group of firearms.

very nice to hear you love it. my dad used to own an uzi and he loved his too, but had to sell it for reasons out of his hands.

Congratulations on your new Uzi acquisition and good range report.

I also have a Vector 9mm Uzi with the 16" barrel and folding stock (no .22LR conversion kit though). Mine is accurate, reliable, and a blast to shoot. Everyone who see's it wants to shoot it. :D

Do you notice the "open-bolt" lag at all or is it negligable? I've only fired a full auto Uzi before, and the few times I actually pulled the trigger ( :eevil: ) I thought the slight delay strange.

How is the balance with the 16" barrel?

BTW: Congratulations!

Earlier this year I got to shoot a Vector Uzi with "da switch," although on semiauto only. Pretty neat. There is a noticeable lag after you pull the trigger and when the gun fires due to the open bolt.

I've found that the open bolt throws off my aim because of the mass of the bolt lunging forward right before it fires. Never fired a closed bolt version.

UZI does it...

Good shooting! The Uzi is an awesome firearm with a great history.

Here's a pic of my Action Arms Model A with Flemming Deluxe conversion to Full Auto (Da switch!), Cienar suppressor, and Vector 68 round drum.

The 'lag' time is the time it takes for the open bolt to slide forward, strip off the round out of the magazine and slam it into the barrel. There is an aftermarket closed bolt for the FA that is more accurate (first shot) and has a MUCH faster rate of fire.

I've got that as well as the .22 conversion. It's a blast to shoot, and always draws a crowd.
