velocity difference between 7 1/2" & 5 1/2" ROA?

I have a 51/2 ROA. Anyone have an idea how much velocity is lost dropping from the 7 1/2" to the 5 1/2" barrel?

I went shooting today and was using 40gr of Triple 7 topped with a 150gr BigLube bullet. That is absolutely the most I could squeeze in to it.

I think I'm going to send it to Clement and have him deepen the cylinders and chamfer the cylinder chambers.

I must have the process down. I went through a dozen cylinder fulls and not one failure of any kind. No failures to fire, no delays and then fire, no hang fires, no jammed caps....Nothing.

Why not?

Easier to load bullets and I like to shoot hot. I'm not recoil sensitive.

Your loss would be only about 100 fps or so, ive read this on ruger old army site, for dummies,by captain somthing, google loads for ruger old army
