Well, it looks like tomoorow I may become an owner of a VEPR .308. I know very little about this rifle, although I have read good things about it. I have been wanting an AK or variant in .308 for years.

If I am correct these are no longer being made?

How good are these rifles?

How available are parts and is it easy to repair if need be?

Is there a supplier for VEPR magazines?

Thanks, any info is appreciated.

Hello I have a VeprII 7.62x39 I got it as a gift when I was 14. The plant that made them has closed. There are parts avalible from Rob Arm. They are built to a high quality and I know you will be happy. As for 308 mags I think Krebs will convert it to use M14 mags.

I had a .308 Vepr for a while, and it really didn't do much for me. If I were looking to get a .308 AK again, I think I'd go for a Saiga. Those use regular stamped AK furniture and have 20-round mags available.
