I know there are a lot of Vets on this board so that's why I'm asking this here. I need their expertise.

An old Vet gave me this box years ago and said it was radio from a B-25 Mitchell bomber.

I'm not so sure.

Can anyone identify this? It might be going to go into a P-51 Mustang restoration project (Sierra Sue II) that some folks in my town are restoring if it is a radio. But I need to know first before I haul it out to them.

The radio front. Perhaps the face plate is missing?

Only identifying marks on the box. There are no serial numbers that I can find.

I've got an idea, but not sure enough to call it. Strongly suggest you go to QRZ.com or Eham.net....possibly the ARRL website as well. Someone there WILL be able to help you.

Yes, it's a radio, yes the face plate is missing. Restorable? Someone'l have to look it over. Shame he's gone now, but Red Willis, K7VDD, was an aircraft RTO in WW2 & he'd have called it in a moment, Phoenix area.
 
That second photo tells you nothing; it's just the label of a capacitor. (My parents were ham radio operators, back in the tube days.)

My guess is it had to be a radio; in the upper right is an adjustment for "Audio." Yes, most of the front panel is missing.

Are you thinking of restoring this unit to functionality? Just finding the tubes would be a miracle, and there's at least one panel meter missing.

If you could get this thing working, you'd be famous.
