Vibra-Prime Discontinued?

I was thinking about buying a Vibra-prime but Midway has it listed as discontinued.

Is a new and improved version coming out or is it going to be discontinued altogether? Either way I might not want to purchase one right away.

Just because Midway doesn't carry it doesn't mean Frankford Arsenal has stopped making it. Other vendors will likely carry it and you could check with Frankford Arsenal about who they are.

Frankford arsenal IS midway. One of there in house brands, like caldwell and several others.

I called Midway and asked (novel idea, no?)

They said that the product is indeed being discontinued and that they were not sure whether another one was forthcoming. I guess if you need one now's the time. Interestingly, the trays and tubes are not listed as discontinued.

fwiw, the 'supervisor' I talked to was surprised to learn that it was indeed being discontinued because they 'sell a ton of them'.

Anybody want mine? I used it when I first got it, after hearing how good it worked! :banghead: After about 5 % upside down primers I tossed it in a box and went back to the primer fipper and one-at-a-time loading primer tubes! It doesn't work for my dillon tubes, YMMV.

Frankford Arsenal is NOT Midway. It's a subsidiary of Battenfield Technologies. You need to check with Battenfield, not Midway. Amazing how much misinformation there is on the internet.

Here's Battenfield's answer to an email I sent them:

Well I have been wanting one and I have dropped hints this year that it would be a good choice for Christmas. However, since Midway is going to discontinue carrying them, for now anyway, I decided to hedge my bets and ordered one last night. So I may end up with two by the time Christmas is over ; oh well there is always eBay or keep it as a spare.

Dave in georgia check your facts. They are all the same company, I 've been to the midway warehouse to pick up stuff and toured it while there. I've been there several times they are the same company, owned by the Potterfields.

Well, it appears I am wrong. My apologies. I wonder why they're having ai discotinue sale and a are claiming they are still carrying it at the same time. Apparently they are coming out with a new, improved model. Wouldn't be the first time they've done such.

While I have no use for one since I'm not a Dillon owner, it is too bad that they are unavailable as they appear to be an invaluable tool for them. Seem strange they would stop producing a tool that fills that kind of market share. I'd be interested in knowing thier reasoning.

Well Don you would know why they stopped production of the Vibra Prime if you owned one. I had too many upside down primers. It is not finding the primer installed in a case upside down that is the problem it is the Dillon primer system jaming when a wrong way primer gets to the end of the primer tube that is time consuming. My son gave me the Dillon primer tube filler for Christmas last year. Guess what it takes a considerable amount of tuning to get the Dillon unit perfect but you can do it. I offered my unit to a poster in this Thread by PM.

The first vibra prime I bought - the motor didn't work so they sent me another one - and the motor didn't work on that one either. Said they'd exchange again but by this time I wasn't interested. I did tear the one apart that I did get and was able to fix some connections and get the motor running. Had to dremmel and polish a few parts to make it work WELL and now I LOVE IT. It was a bit of a pain the the rear getting it to that point though.

When I have the extra dough I'm thinking I'd love dillons version... A little pricey but keep on trying to talk myself into it.

Vibra prime a thing of the past. I too contacted both Frankford Arsenal and Midway. I suspect if enough people ask for the product it may come back. I had a nice worked great vibra prime. Arrrggggghhhh, I let it get away when I sold a 550 dillon. I ordered a complete 650 unit along with the dillon RF100. Not only is it WAY more expensive but it does not work very well.

Send midway a note if you'd like to have the Vibra-Prime back.

You won't get it back. Lots of footwork was done on the brian enos forums about it. The gist of it was that it never sold in enough volume to justify what it cost to produce, that the molds and tooling were EOL, and they pretty much weren't going to make that mistake again.

So, short of someone cncing one and selling them at much higher prices, you probably have seen the end of them for good. People have talked of such, but securing the IP looks like more trouble than it is worth.

I saw around here or on some other forum about how someone had modified a Lee Safety prime with a 9v battery and a motor that accomplished exactly the same thing since the vibraprimes were nowhere to be found.
