Trying to use my new Vibra-prime and am having problems. Using LPP. Wnen the primer is suppposed to drop out of the tray and into the tube the primer noses down and turns sideways, blocking the hole in the tray. :banghead:

This still occasionally happens to me, when it does I keep it vibrating and give it a quick "flick" to the left, usually it fixes things and the primers flow again.

Make sure you are holding at enough of an angle so the primers "fly" across the hole and drop straight in. Took a few tries to get the hang of mine, couldn't live without it now!

I have that same problem, but I haven't has a primer flip yet. Very frustrating having a nice line all enter easily and then have one primer stall out.
Love to read about a fix.

I'm using mine with SPP and have run 1900 primers through it with no problems. I made my own primer tubes from clear plastic with both ends open, so I can fill several up at once and use them to fill the primer tube on my press just like you do with pick-up tubes. I drilled a hole across each end so I can close it off with the same pin as on the pickup tubes. One time I had both ends open and had to retrieve 100 primers from the seat cushions:banghead:

I can watch the primers go in and catch any that flip, but so for none have.

I ended up polishing the plastic tray. Regular ol' car wax worked, prior to that the tray was "squeaky" fresh plastic... I also polished the feed hole with a slightly oversized bore mop covered with car polish....Works like a charm.

After much persuasion, I got my first tray of primers through. Had to hold the tray about 30° off level while shaking to keep the primers dropping down the tube. Even at that, I had one primer turned 90°, which I finally got loose by turning the tray upside down and tapping against the bench. I will have to try polishing.

Right now I am ready to send the dang thing back, I can sit and pluck primers faster.

I wonder if my lack of problems with it is because I made my own tubes which just might provide a tighter fit for the primer and therefore it can't flip. I will check Sunday afternoon after I get back from shooting a Steel Challenge.

Happen to me on my new vibra prime, I ended up returning to the store.
Sticking with my Dillon RF100, works every time.

I have to hold mine at the correct angle so that the primers don't pile up at the tube. If there is only a single line going towards the tube, it fills the tube faster. I don't have to shake it though; occasionally I have to change the tilt on it to get the excess primers back along the side.

There is no way I can use the pick-up tubes faster than this. The Vibra-prime also makes it much easier on my hand because I don't have to hold a tube tightly between my fingers to pick up primers.

My Vibra-prime is staying with me:)

Good example of what is essentially a corollary of Murphy's Law: There ain't no such thing as a perfect machine. We complain....then we improvise. ;)

What made you want to switch to a Vibra-prime from the RF100 in the first place? The V-P is $50, but isn't the RF100 a couple hundred?

That's a good attitude. I have found that there's an art to reading product ratings/reviews. I might read one or two 5 stars, but then I go to the 3 star and lower to look for any common problems. There is always a chance of getting a lemon, but not as many as people claim. I think a lot of it is user error and also that usually you get more people complaining than praising.

If you have a problem with a product and go on a forum and see that some people have had good luck with it, then you should consider that perhaps you need to adjust the process.

Now, although I've had very good luck with the V-P, there is no doubt that it can be finicky. You do have to get the right angle and move the primers around once or twice, but once you do they flow just fine. If primers flip sideways, then the tube must be a tad too big. Sideways, a primer should be too thick to slip through the opening if it's the right size. Flip upside down? Don't know how that happens, but I believe those who said so.

My one worry is that the V-P depends on tight fits and I can see those wearing.

Tip: if you predominately use one size primer, use a piece of tape to make a "gate" across the other one to prevent spillage.

Does anyone know the difference between the original and the new one that they say is improved?
