FOX News: Alert, American citizen, contractor, beheaded in Iraq

Just on Fox, an American citizen, contractor, hostage, was beheaded in Irag by islamic fanatics. Hopefully more detaills will follow.

This is bad. Real bad. I hope we, our military, will take the gloves off now.

I don't know what to say... :fire:

CAIRO, Egypt — A video posted Tuesday on an Islamic militant Web site showed a group affiliated with Al Qaeda (search) beheading an American civilian in Iraq, saying the death was revenge for the abuse of Iraqi prisoners by American soldiers.

The video showed five men wearing headscarves and black ski masks, standing over a bound man in an orange jumpsuit — similar to a prisoner's uniform — who identified himself as Nick Berg, a U.S. contractor whose body was found on a highway overpass in Baghdad on Saturday.

"My name is Nick Berg, my father's name is Michael, my mother's name is Susan," the man said on the video. "I have a brother and sister, David and Sarah. I live in ... Philadelphia."

After reading a statement, the men were seen pulling the man to his side and putting a large knife to his neck. A scream sounded as the men cut his head off, shouting "Allahu Akbar!" — "God is great." They then held the head out before the camera.

Video Appears to Show Beheading of American

Tuesday, May 11, 2004

CAIRO, Egypt — A video posted Tuesday on an Islamic militant Web site showed the beheading of an American civilian in Iraq, and said the execution was carried out by an Al Qaeda affiliated group to avenge the abuse of Iraqi prisoners by American soldiers.

The video showed five men wearing headscarves and black ski masks, standing over a bound man in an orange jumpsuit — similar to a prisoner's uniform — who identified himself as Nick Berg (search), a U.S. contractor whose body was found on a highway overpass in Baghdad on Saturday.

Berg was a small-business owner from the Philadelphia suburbs, his family said Tuesday.

Berg's family said they knew their son had been decapitated, but didn't know the details of the killing. When told of the video by an Associated Press reporter, Berg's father, Michael, and his two siblings hugged and cried.

"I knew he was decapitated before. That manner is preferable to a long and torturous death. But I didn't want it to become public," Michael Berg said.

The video tape included a statement by one of the executioners:

"For the mothers and wives of American soldiers, we tell you that we offered the U.S. administration to exchange this hostage with some of the detainees in Abu Ghraib (search) and they refused."

"So we tell you that the dignity of the Muslim men and women in Abu Ghraib and others is not redeemed except by blood and souls. You will not receive anything from us but coffins after coffins ... slaughtered in this way."

The video bore the title "Abu Musab al-Zarqawi (search) shown slaughtering an American." It was unclear whether al-Zarqawi — a lieutenant of Usama bin Laden — was shown in the video, or was claiming responsibility for ordering the execution.

The Web site on which the video was posted is known as a clearing house for Al Qaeda and Islamic extremist groups' statements and tapes.

The family of Berg, 26, of West Chester, Pa., said they were informed by the U.S. State Department on Monday that Berg was found dead near a highway overpass in Baghdad.

Berg's mother, Suzanne Berg, said her son was in Iraq as an independent businessman to help rebuild communication antennas. He had been missing since April 9, she said.

"He had this idea that he could help rebuild the infrastructure," she said.

The U.S. military Tuesday said an American civilian was found dead in Baghdad, but did not release his identity.

State Department spokeswoman Susan Pittman said she couldn't release the name of the dead American, but said she not aware of more than one civilian found dead in recent days.

The military said there were signs of trauma to the body. Suzanne Berg said she was told her son's death was violent but did not want to discuss details.

Berg, who was in Baghdad from late December to Feb. 1, returned to Iraq in March. He didn't find any work and planned again to return home on March 30, but his daily communications home stopped on March 24. He later told his parents he was jailed by Iraqi officials at a checkpoint in Mosul.

"He was arrested and held without due process," his father, Michael Berg, told the Daily Local News of West Chester recently. "By the time he got out the whole area was inflamed with violence.

The FBI on March 31 interviewed Berg's parents in West Chester. Jerri Williams, a spokeswoman for the Philadelphia FBI office, told The Philadelphia Inquirer the agency had been "asked to interview the parents regarding Mr. Berg's purpose in Iraq."

On April 5, the Bergs filed suit in federal court in Philadelphia, contending that their son was being held illegally by the U.S. military. The next day Berg was released. He told his parents he hadn't been mistreated.

The Bergs last heard from their son April 9, when he said he would come home by way of Jordan, Turkey or Kuwait. But by then, hostilities in Iraq had escalated.

Suzanne Berg on Tuesday said she was told her son's body would be transported to Kuwait and then to Dover, Del. She said the family had been trying for weeks to learn where their son was but that federal officials had not been helpful.

"I went through this with them for weeks," she said. "I basically ended up doing most of the investigating myself."

Time to take the 'Kid Gloves' off, and put the Titanium Gloves on over the Steel Fists. . . . .

There is nothing else I can say the would be within 5,000 miles of "The High Road"

I suspect incidents like this will hold far more significance to the American voter than all the pics of prisoners in women's underclothes. The press and Democrats inside the Beltway are, of course, another matter.

i agree but we dont need another "torture scandal" on our hands because that would be morally wrong . we should just take any prisoners we have and put them up in a ritz carlton and then call it a day.

I say we hunt them down one by one and terminate them with extreme predjudice. If that video is genuine, once caught the phuckers on the tape should be subjected to the same death - only I'd cut a lot slower and with a knife I'd just sliced a pork roast with. :fire:

Bottom line, you can't win a fight by boxing fair while the other fellow is kicking you in the balls. We've got to start hardballing the rotten b@st@rds.

Merged a couple of simul-posted threads -- I think I ended up having the title of one but the first post from the other.

Disgusting, angry-making subject. Stay frosty, everyone.

Stay frosty, everyone.

Wilco, Pax. But it's not easy.

I was never a one to think that ending someone who needed to end should be prolonged. It's not always easy to make myself think that way. But yes, these people need to be hunted down and killed.

w4rma will be along shortly with a cut and paste saying it was not islamic terrorists, but CIA operatives under the direction of George Bush

the death was revenge for the abuse of Iraqi prisoners by American soldiers.

Would these be the same prisoners that they were dropping mortars on just a few weeks ago killing 5 of them?

If anybody has seen the two videos of Chetchnian soldiers beheading Russian soldiers then you know exactly what this vid looks like. What a God Awful group of people.

I did have remorse for the torture scandal, now, they (the iraqis) have lost any sympathy from me. It is time to pull out the sh*t hammer, and start cleaning out a country.

Looks like osama is a part of this, or at least one of his thugs. Fox news is reporting, if it is correct, that al-Zarqawi - a lieutenant of Osama bin Laden , did the beheading.

American shown beheaded on web site video
11/05/2004 - 18:50:06

A video posted on an Islamic militant web site appears to show a group affiliated with al-Qaida beheading an American contractor in Iraq, saying the death was revenge for the prisoner-abuse scandal.

The video showed five men wearing headscarves and black ski masks, standing over a bound man in an orange jumpsuit – similar to a prisoner’s uniform – who identified himself as Nick Berg, a US contractor whose body was found near a highway overpass in Baghdad on Saturday.

“My name is Nick Burg, my father’s name is Michael, my mother’s name is Susan,†the man said on the video. “I have a brother and sister, David and Sarah. I live in … Philadelphia.â€

After reading a statement, the men were seen pulling the man to his side and putting a large knife to his neck. A scream sounded as the men cut his head off, shouting “Allahu Akbar!†– “God is great.â€
They then held the head out before the camera.

“For the mothers and wives of American soldiers, we tell you that we offered the US administration to exchange this hostage with some of the detainees in Abu Ghraib and they refused,†one of the men read from a statement.

“So we tell you that the dignity of the Muslim men and women in Abu Ghraib and others is not redeemed except by blood and souls. You will not receive anything from us but coffins after coffins … slaughtered in this way.â€

The video bore the title “Abu Musab al-Zarqawi shown slaughtering an American.†It was unclear whether al-Zarqawi – a lieutenant of Osama bin Laden - was shown in the video, or was claiming responsibility for ordering the execution.

The web site on which the video was posted is known as a clearing house for al-Qaida and Islamic extremist groups’ statements and tapes.

There's dozens of videos and images of Islamists sawing off the heads of "infidels" scattered around the web, and you can find them if you search carefully enough and are willing to endure the ensuing nightmares. From Russian soldiers in Afghanistan, to Indonesia, wherever Muslim fundamentalists reign.

As far as they're concerned, they're merely fulfilling their religious duty set forth in Surah 8:12 and 47:4 in the Koran.

Thanks to Pax for the suggestion that everyone be "Frosty"....And another prisoner abuse scandal is about the last thing I want to see right now.

But this incident just torques me off at so many levels I can't even begin to count them. . . . And it is difficult to be "Frosty" when your blood is boiling over.

Anger beyond ANY semblance of reason is just 1 feeling I have right now. The rest of them are un-expressible on "The High Road"

If you think this is some kind of new behavior for the middle east, you haven't been paying attention. Barbarism and rhetoric is the way of life for these animals. We're knee-deep in the 12th century over there and the only way out is through. Barbarians understand force. Show them force without mercy and this problem will solve itself.

and I'm supposed to care that a couple American soldiers posed some nakid Iraqes and took pictures and made them feel bad about themselves?

Line the road from Baghdad to Basra with Iraqi heads for all I care.

Winning the hearts and minds? To hell with that. Liberat some blood and guts, and leave the puddles on the road.

I know this will infuriate some of my fellow members, but I think it needs to be said anyway: This ugly incident in no way validates or excuses the abuse of Iraqi prisoners at the hands of US personnel. In fact, those abusive personnel should have Berg's death on their consciences. Maybe this bunch of terrorists would have killed Berg anyway, but thanks to the Military Perverts in charge of that prison, they had an "excuse" for doing it right now that will seem valid in the eyes of their countrymen.

I think it is time we send the Marines into faluja and wipe those guys out of thier little city and than swing down and take the cleric out of his little hiddy hole.
We will have some dead, they will have a lot more. We can't show them we will tolerate this kind of brutality. After the butchard 4 of us in faluja we went in and the roadside bombs and that happiness stopped. Yes Marines died but it is better to die fighting than to die with a bag over your head.

This is a great forum by the way, golad I was lead here.

The reason our hostage got beheaded: the Islamist Extremists are animals.

The reason it got put on TV: CBS.

Make no mistake: the media couldn't care less how their blind chasing of ratings actually causes news instead of simply reporting it. :fire:

Those high dollar contracts don't seem so lucrative now... wonder if the media will shut their mouths and get behind the troops?
