Alright I got all the parts to put a video system together. I ordered the OP's monitor, this camera because I'm cheap http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003SX0RMM/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1. A four pack of strip lights and an extra 12 volt wall plug.
Got everything wired up to see what kind of picture I got and make sure I was smart enough to figure it out. Low and behold everything works as it should. Still have to figure out were I want the camera and how to route all the dang wires so they don't get in the way of anything.
One question I do have is both the monitor and camera have extra video plugs coming off them, if I was to cut these plugs off and heat shrink the wires together to make a slim wire bundle can I add aftermarket plugs if I ever decide I need to at a later date? Doubt I would ever need the other plugs but ya never know when something needs to get repurposed.
