I have a friend that has this scope and mount ,HE IS LOOKING FOR INFORMATION ON THIS SCOPE ,AND ANYONE THAT USED ONE IN VIET NAM.

Redfield Viet Nam AR TEL 3x9 Sniper Scope w/ M-14 mount

Anyone know of any serious collectors who may be interested in a Viet Nam Era U.S. issue sniper scope ready to mount on a M-14, it is a Redfield 3x9 AR TEL with the box like retical.
I can't find alot of info on it outside the many forums talking about them, only around 2000 made and rare, value around 1500.00-2500.00??

Probably your best source of info on this is going to be Peter Senich's books on sniping; he shows a number of pictures of scopes and mounts that are very close to this, and it appears to be an early scope on a mid-production mount. This should be calibrated to use the M118 Ball sniper load, arranged to give an accurate POI when a 6-foot target is zoomed to within the stadia markers. Hope this helps.

I don't know what they sell for now.

We played with a couple at 5th. Army AMU in 1968 or so.

Most of those that went to Viet Nam suffered for moisture getting inside them & fogging.
And / or the ranging reticule dissolving / delaminating from the heat.

If you have one that still works it should be worth some money.
I just have no idea how much.
