I found this vintage Crosman "150" .22 caliber pellet gun at a sale several weeks ago for $11. It looked like it had been played with and left outside for a couple of months. It was actually muddy, the cylinder powerlet tube cap was seized and the gun was covered with surface rust.
I was hesitant at first to even make an offer on it becuase I was doubtful that the seals were any good. But for the price, I sprung for it. I took it home and began the cleaning process and in an hour or so it was acceptable. I placed a piece of scrap leather around the powerlet cylinder cap for the CO2 and with a pair of pliers the cap came loose.
The CO2 tube was clean. I got a CO2 powerlet and put a couple of drops of Crosman's Pelloil on the tip and placed it in the tube. No leaks yet. I then dry fired it. The first shot was a mild "puff" and I thought I had wasted my $11. The second shot was impressive and very authoritative. Shooting a pellet will tell. When I shot a 14.3 grain pellet into my pellet trap I was really impressed. The pellet smacked the back of my steel trap like a sledge hammer. The crack of the CO2 was much loader than I expected.
"Great" I thought. Now lets see how long it will hold pressure. Well, that was 2 weeks ago. I shoot it once a day. It still packs the same wallop it did 2 weeks ago. Not very pretty for sure, but this Ol' dog'll hunt. Its a keeper.
