Thinking of purchasing a vintage Leupold M8 3x for a late 60s .30-06.

What can I expect in terms of reliability, clarity, distortion, eye relief, and maintaining point of impact after repeated use?

Are there any other fixed power scopes in the 3x to 4x range from the late 60s that you would recommend?

Are these old Leupolds threaded and able to take the Alumina flip up lens caps?

Be aware they were made in two or three different eye relief lengths.

I have a M8 2.5 EER (Extended Eye Relief) in a scout scope mount in a Marlin .44 Mag carbine.

And I like it a lot!

However, it would not work at all on a standard scope mount over the receiver because you couldn't see through it.

There was also a M8 pistol scope with even longer eye relief then the EER model.
