Which won't happen until the culture changes, as politics only reflects the culture of the society. Oh, wait, the culture is changing and has been for years. What used to be America is now a watered down mix of multilingual factions competing for power and public funds. Patriotism and nationalism are considered ugly selfish concepts. National security and border control have been replaced by 'compassionate conservatism' (whatever that is) and a huge consolidation of central government power and control by the people we voted into office. My bet is real immigration reform will only come from a tectonic shift in American politics.
There won't be any 'tectonic' shift until the bread and circuses stop or at least are in short supply. By then it will be far too late for any sort of 'backlash' as we'll be outnumbered, outgunned, and overpowered.
